The Business Card, a Must Have!

The business card, a powerful communication tool

The good old name card remains an essential communication tool and says a lot about you and your business. As such, in this article, we will be highlighting why name cards are still an essential tool these days.

Why a business card?

One might mistakenly think of the business card as outdated. An element of the past relegated to oblivion through digitization. However, that’s not the case. Yes, a website can be a sort of virtual name card, but that’s both an advantage and a disadvantage. The classic name card leaves a concrete trace that your interlocutor will take with him. Slipped into a wallet or cardholder, it is always accessible despite the absence of a network or in the event of a hardware failure.

It is therefore a “hard” communication tool that accompanies and retains the memory of your last exchange. As an extension of yourself or your business, it represents you, and every detail of its design matters.

At these times of dematerializations, business cards represent a physical medium, remaining a reliable value, and will probably remain so for a long time. And while business cards are nowadays resisting the digital waves of transformation, they’re also benefiting from such a technological revolution. Modern name cards play with formats, colors, shapes, and can also feature recent technologies, such as QR Codes or a USB stick.

Improving the reachability of your business

Since the space on a name card is limited, only the most relevant information should be featured. Selecting the most relevant and interesting elements to display will go a long way in ensuring more effective communication and thus allowing you to improve your reachability.

For example, you can create a page containing all the information related to your professional profile, your activity, the various ways to contact you, your company, the rewards, awards, innovations that you want to highlight, as well as links to your various profiles on social networks and your website, and embed in your business card a QR code that will allow the cardholder to access all this data online.

Small in size but very efficient

With its small standard format (8.5 x 5.5), that of a bank card, it perfectly fits into a wallet.

Name cards remain the most convenient and quick way to expand your network, solicit new customers, suppliers, etc. It represents you and must of course be consistent with the image of your business or activity. It also a way to stand out, but be careful not to seek originality at all costs. Not to the detriment of its clarity, consistency, and relevance. Remember, your image or that of your business is at stake.

A good business card must therefore include all the necessary information concerning you. Your customers must be able to learn about the identity of your company, your job, your offers or services, without much of a hassle.

The more you invest in designing a good quality business card, the more effective it will be.

It is therefore very important to avoid «low cost» products, as this can negatively influence your marketing strategy. If you are not ready to invest in a business card, what image will you project of your company? This could be interpreted as a lack of interest and hamper your professional success.
